Don't know where he got the info:
"We have recently learned that the name Jenkins as applied to a family, means son of John and is a variant of Jonkins. The name, Jenkins, appears in "Poll Tax, West Riding of Yorkshire," in the year 1379.
Another quote from Cal's Column, August 31, 1950. Title The Jenkins Family. "It is supposed that the family is of Welsh descent, although this might be questioned by some of those who bear the name."
Cal's Column was published in the Macon County Times in Lafayette, TN by Elder Calvin Gregory. He published articles on the history of the families in Macon and Smith County TN.

In my opinion it is the whole British Isles.
The Jenkins surname is found in England. There was the Jenkins War. I have the family crest for this family.
Then there is the common opinion that the name is Welsh.
Then I have book of Irish surnames and you guessed it, there is Jenkins with the Gaelic name given. Finally, there is my family. James Jenkins, wife Ellen Sharb and son John all born in Scotland and came to America in 1858.
So we can be English, Welsh, Irish or Scots. In Reply to: Where does the Jenkins name originate??
The Welsh version of Jenkins is Ap Shenkin. we went back as far as 1756 to wales england
